I know this may be a shock to you, but most of us know what went on. And this may be a shock to you too, nobody really believes your version of things, because you aren't exactly the most neutral observer or commentator when it comes to your buddies. There are Burton posters on here who do have that respect, that we believe, you are what is classified as the opposite end of the stick. Now that all being said, guess what, its still against the rules! Your comment that the school can do it is stupid and not even really dignified with a response but here is a fairly simple logic to that, if you can attempt to comprehend for once in your life. Do you know that the school officials are trained, and have to take classes or in services for such things? If you do then that in of itself makes them different. Now then, related to that, if someone gives someone an OTC pill today, tomorrow they get mad or want to play a joke on the person, they give them something else, then what, is it no big deal then, do you see why the school has to protect themselves? If everybody only went around handing good medicine to people and everybody took it properly, then sure, it would be fine, but that isn't the case. You scream about it this way, and if tomorrow someone asked for a tylenol, and someone didn't like a player or thought it would be funny to watch them wasted, and gave them a pill that wasn't tylenol, then you would be screaming about the tragedy that happened. You really are some piece of work, one of these days I really hope you grow up and look at things big picture and not just big Raider picture.

Wow, can you atleast understand that I heard it from a few people who were in the class and part of it - take it for what it is or not at all. Now didnt I not just say it was against the rules? Show me where I said he did nothing wrong? Did I say the school did anything wrong or shouldnt have done what they did? I didnt say any of that, but after reading what most have posted and see that they thought something a lot different and worse. I wasnt trying to make a case against the school, just was pointing something out that you took way out of context. I was just trying to point out that from what I heard, it wasnt what most think and not to hang anyone from the highest limb.

True, that came out way wrong and I shouldnt have put it like that or even said that. I dont blame the school at all for what happened, just dont think it was as bad as most think he did. Thats why I got defensive, Rock made a very good point about it though.

Maybe the incident didn't seem bad to you, but it was bad because the guy DID break the rules, not a football rule, but a schoolboard and a state rule. That is what was bad, he broke several rules.

I understand what you mean, just saying that compared to a lot of things that go on in schools these days its very small. But like you said, it was against the rules.

NO incident, and that involves this is too small, what if those were your children and it had been the real deal? Not so trivial then is it?

It is very small compared to other things that go on, because I am sure this was not the first time they did something like this for the ones that got caught actually doing it. Now the school did what it had/shouldve done, but compared to things I have seen while I was in school its not really that bad.

And you dont have too much knowledge of what happens in HS these days, if you did then you might see what I am saying.

Drugs have always been around in schools, hell, I didn't go to school with Moses. We had our share of snorting, smoking and shooting up at school. When the people got caught, it wasn't pretty either, whether it was all in fun with an aspirin or a tylenol. If you got caught, you got expelled and then you had to deal with the po-po.

Think of how it was then and then think of it 50 times worse. No one knows how bad it is unless they are in HS or just graduated in the past few years. As I was telling some one else, if you made ever student in SWVA blow their nose about half of them would have some white or blue stuff coming out. He didnt get caught doing it himself, thats my point but all was in the blame. Just saying compared to things I saw in HS, it was pretty small.

Big or small, who cares!? honestly drugs are bad and misusing of any drug and so is smoking pot and other illegal RX drugs. Possibly a drug screen showed more than just playing around with tylenol, maybe you didn't know that fact did you R13?

You arent getting that the player didnt get caught misusing anything. And if they tested every athlete around here for anything then no one would have enough to fill a roster. Nothing in the world wrong with pot IMO, only reason its illegal is that the best kind is grown in other countries and the govt wants you to buy their drugs.

Dickenson county athletes get tested. So that disproves ur guess.

How often? Some places are worse than others.

Its a random drug test but that still disproves ur point that they wouldnt have enough to field a team. Girls and guys get tested both if u play sports. So if most was on drugs like u seem to think then no one in dickenson county would have any type of sports.

It was really an exageration to get my point across. But is it once a year/every now and then and is it on a particular player or the whole team at the same time? Doesnt disprove much though, because if they do I am sure that some do test positive and I dont think they do the same thing in every county in SWVA.

No its not once a year you can be randomly drug tested at anytime during the season. And it does disprove your point since Clintwood still fields a team on non druggies. And if anyone tests positive they are suspended from playing and have to go to a mini rehab type of thing. So theres no way u can test positive and get away with it.

You say they "can" test you at any time, but do they every season with every player in every sport? As I said it was an exxageration to get my point across. I am not saying that everyone takes or smokes something every day, but I'd say theres quite a few that do it every now and then.

If ur name comes up then u will be tested. And everyone that i played with in any sport has been tested. So everyone eventually gets tested theres no way around it. It might be different at Burton but the coaches in clintwood know if a player does something.

I would have to see if it was with every player in every sport each season their whole HS career. Im not pin pointing any school, but its a major problem in most around here - CW could be an exception. I'm sure there are plenty that stay away from everything, but sure there are plenty that dont.

There are kids in Clintwood that do drugs im not saying there aint. But when dickenson county put in their drug testing policy 95% of users quit sports. Then after the other figured out they would get tested they also quit. Some may do something every now and then but they do not do it in the season. And about as far as most of them would go is to smoke a little weed thats is not really a drug imo.

Thats what I am saying, there would be a lot who would quit or stop. And not saying every one does it on a regular basis, but do it every once in a while and a lot just with weed. So if every county in SWVA (probably a lot worse up state) tested every once in awhile, then I'd say there'd be quite a few in trouble.

How many times did I say that was exaggeration on my part? And again how many times do I have to say I dont know everything, dont think I know everything and am wrong a lot. Seems like some read everything else except when say that.

You just don't understand the difference in people who are able to administer meds and those who aren't. Your logic is like saying well someone should be able to get whatever drugs they want cuz other people get them legally.

If you really try to make points, exaggeration isn't the way to do it. Dickenson County has random drug testing, do you have any idea why it is random? Because you can't legally test everybody, everybody has the right to an education, even drug addicts as stupid as that seems. Not everybody has the right to play sports or anything like that, those are a privledge, so to get that right you are subject to random drug testing. Now one player could be tested 2-3-4 times, if there name comes up randomly. So yes, someone 'could' be doing drugs and not get tested but someone could also be tested this time and be tested the next time, so there is a risk factor that the athletes or PACE members or cheerleaders or anything like that could be caught. Does it stop the worst of the worst? No I'd say they know how to beat the system just like happens about anywhere, but what it does do is give most high school kids a chance, a built in excuse. You seem to think that most of the people on here either are so far out of school or so far out of the loop, they are clueless about things. When do most kids drink or do drugs? Do they just decide hey I wanna do it or does peer pressure cause it? Be honest, most kids do it because they want to be cool, they want to fit in. Well you give them a built in excuse now, and I know for a FACT that most kids, not all, but most that is all they need. Someone can ask them if they want to do it and they can turn it down, but do it for a 'cool reason' and not just seem square.

You say people don't know because they aren't in the schools, I think that is your problem, you can't view it because you try to speak like this sage voice of reason but still want to be in high school and seem cool to your friends that you're taking up for them. Pick your side and be one or the other. I think most people know that I'll go to bat for the players or coaches to about the end of things, but if one is stupid or does something just wrong, I can admit that. You almost can but then you try to rationalize it, thats the problem with your opinions.

I dont know much of anything about the drug testings in Dickenson Co. I was really asking if they just randomly did it with the whole team or a certain athlete. From what you say its just a random one that like you said then there would be some that get away with it. The thought of getting in trouble doesnt discourage too many, if it was like that then there would hardly be any problems with any illegal activity anywheres.

I am not saying that parents and teachers dont know anything, but IMO they dont know nowheres as near as much as they think they do. It could be that they dont really want to know or that theres a lot that just goes unseen, I think its both that is why so much goes on in schools. I'm not trying to sound cool to them, I dont really know too many people on here, the ones I do I havent even met. Just looking at all the posts and seemed like most thought different things that didnt really happen. I see the whole point youre trying to make about it. A student could go do most anything they want elsewhere, but at the environment, the school environment, they are governed by rules, guess what a student could go get high as a kite, but if they come to school, they can get in trouble. I really don't understand your attempts at argument.

It is random but you know what, there are people who get tested in prisons, or on release programs that beat the system, wizzinator or whatever it was called anybody. Trying to rationalize the ways around anything, doesnt mean you don't enforce it. Guess what there are radar detectors that people use to get around police, that doesnt mean that police just stop trying to catch people.

The concept of trying to give people an escape isn't going to stop everybody, nowhere did I say that. It gives those that might not do it, an escape. I actually can say this, I never touched a drop of booze till I was of legal age. Why did I do that? I just never felt the need, and was able to pretty much always use the excuse of having to go home and driving. I was thin, not much tolerance, etc. Thats fine, I was an exception, because I did have willpower but what about the guy who was going to his friends and staying the night or camping out, what is their excuse? They have none, but if they really don't want to do it, and they play a sport, they can easily say hey man I can't risk it, they test me, and I get busted, I have to go through this sort of rehab type, parents find out, etc.

It's not going to stop everybody, its foolish to think that. You don't think the thought of getting in trouble discourages that many?? If you really, actually think that, you're insane. It doesn't discourage everybody, guess what not everybody wants an excuse or was raised in an environment where they would get in trouble or where their parents even care or that they think anything outside of mass murder is wrong.

How many things wrong would you do if you wasn't afraid of getting caught? Or getting in trouble? Would I constantly fly when I drive, if there wasn't the fear of tickets and me having to pay higher insurance? Would people not shoplift if they didn't think they would end up getting caught? Shoot if you aren't worried about getting in trouble, go find a way to illegally vote a few 100 times for Obama lol

No, you won't reach every kid. You won't stop everyone from giving in, but you will stop more than you think.
